Dinner Rush: what a bunch of trash . . .

Mr. Black and Mr. Blue were in this totally engrossing (yet not compelling) movie about a mobster's swan song in his Tribeca "hot spot" resturant.

Aiello reigns supreme in the mobster role he often plays. His earthy earnestness cannot be beaten. (Well, Tommy Lee can, I suppose). Louis (Aiello) is feeling the pinch from an opposing mob and loses his life-long business partner because of it. The action revolves around the resturant his chef son has elevated to a "must dine" through his innovative Italian cuisine. The action in the resturant is a portrait of NYC glitz: obnoxious, pretentious people, mobsters, hangers-on there to be seen, and a mix of upstairs/downstairs dramas of the hired staff.

I was initially put off by the ill-fitting caricatures of Mr. Blue and Mr. Black but later understood their purpose to the plot. The ending is a bit of surprise contrasting the civilized nature plot.
