Two words: The Titanic. We all know it sank, and yet...Yours would be a justification for never reading a book twice, or seeing a movie again.
The fact is, such things are often enough *more* informative, and more enjoyable, the second or even third or fourth time through. Why not this?
And if you prefer to visualize things for yourself, well and good... but have you seen any of the LotR films? Or *any* movie made from a book? Hmm...?
