A "home-grown"? Home-grown to whom exactly?

Drop your American small-town arrogance, AuPh - this forum is supposed to be the meeting place for people from all over the world, not JUST from the US.

Let me remind you, that the US represents only about 5% of the world population. Great as it is, it simply can't be the best in ALL areas, and its strenght has always been in recognizing this - somehting you are steadfastedly refusing to do.

While the US has probably the highest movie output in the world, its share of great films is probably on the order of 20% or so...

Given that, it makes all the sense to a movie lover to step outside his small town and see that best does the world have to offer - amazingly it is quite eazy to do these days, so enjoy!
