Ishtar was universally panned when it came out. Wasn't as godawful bad as I expected when I rented it. Had some genuinely hilarious moments. I guess the stars (Hoffman /Beatty) and budget had people expecting more.Ditto for Altman's Popeye, with Robin Williams. I think it's a scream until the last 15 minutes or so when it totally falls flat.
