I enjoyed reading the posts regarding best remakes and films that improved on the book.
Anybody have any truly bad remakes or hack jobs made from great novels?
My remakes are mostly from classic film noirs:
Out of the Past...Against all Odds
Criss Cross...The Underneath
High Sierra...I Died a Thousand Times
The Killers...The Killers (w/Ronald Reagan)
Detour........Detour (w/Tom Neal JUNIOR)
The Getaway...The Getaway
The Postman Always Rings Twice...Sorry, Jack!
The worst film from any "major" novel imo...Pet Cemetary, again from Stevie King...not a great book, but a truly bad film.
I'm not sure which was the worst...the novel or film version of Valley of the Dolls.
Any other choices?
