My six year old grandson has outgrown the Teletubbies and Little Engine that Could, etc etc. When he gets to visit us on some weekends now he wants to watch "monster movies".We discovered this by accident when he saw "It Came from Beneath the Sea" on my shelf and wanted us to watch some of it. He really enjoyed it and I later rummaged up a few more. And I realized these 50's sci-fi monster films were really tame and yep, hokey. There is no bad language and the violence is usually brief and off-screen in shadows etc. but he loves them. "20 Million Miles to Earth, Earth vs the Flying Saucers, The Giant Claw, and his favorite so far: "The Monster the Challenged the World". It's about big sea snails that a chubby Tim Holt disposes of.
