"Green Dolphin Street"

This 1949 MGM black and white effort stars most notably Donna Reed and Van Heflin. It is the story of two sisters who live in a village on an English Channel island and are loved by two men in a sort of lover's quadrangle. They all end up on both islands of New Zealand before it was popular to film there (although the filming was done on MGM's back lot). Enjoyable "what might have been" soap opera, lavishly mounted.

The title theme was picked up by Miles Davis in 1958 and became a jazz standard overnight as well as remaining in Miles' repetoire for seven years.
