Will this André Téchiné film raise to the high standard set by Rene Clement?
I am not going to give you any spoilers - I think you should see the film and form your own opinion. It is definitely a film worth seeing, and film that will leave you with memories and thoughts. Emmanuelle Béart has some great moments, and the film maker eventually has to look at the soup he is making and decide on what it all means and how to resolve it all.
Unfortunately he opts for a copout, and that is somewhat of a disappointment, as something a bit more original would have pushed the film up... not to the status of a masterpiece, perhaps, but still, higher.
Good film... made to a well known formula, and certainly not the worst of its kind.
