Victor,I believe both Hitchcock and Clint Eastwood (and maybe Truffaut?) did the "past" movie trick with some of their earlier films...I always look at "what's playing" at the theater shown in film scenes...shows the director's sense of humor, I think.
This Chabrol film was the original of the Unfaithful remake starring Dianne Lane and Richie Gere, right? Have you seen the remake? Compare and contrast?
