Personally, I look upon it as an apples and oranges kind of thing, these films are competing for different audiences, IMO. However, a more interesting analysis might be how much the events of 9/11 inspired the making of both films.
One thing's for sure, Fahrenheit 9/11 was made for a heck of a lot less money than The Passion.
