GREAT MOVIE!. A, maybe A+! Bus 174.

4.233.23.139

It looks on the DVD box like a docudrama, BUT, it is a documentary, no re-enactments (which I do not like, generally). It is taken from news cameras which for some bizarre reason, were left to film everything right up close. It involves a desperate, and addled young man, a former street kid, who commandeers a bus (??) in downtown Rio. The hostage situation lasts hours, and you are there for the whole thing, but the editing is SO GOOD, you never get bored, or know what is going to happen. With an ending better than any Hollywood screen writer could invent. And camera work that will show you how managed news is here in the US, where we never see the hostage, and never get to hear him talking to the cameras during the siege.

GREAT!!!!

If I had to come up with a negative, which as part of my job I am used to doing, there are interviews with some of the hostages during the film, so you can theorize who lives, and maybe, who does not, maybe... Conversely, these young women hostages, who are itnerviewed during the course of the film, are very intelligent, and appealing.
