Bonnaire must have shed 25 lbs for the sharply, guant look she had. Playing a modern day illiterate domestic for an upper middle class family (Cassel and Bisset) she was counterpointed by a mostly loonie postal clerk in dowdy form by Huppert. Egged on by Huppert's didain for the privileded, her relationship with the family became strained to the breaking point finally ending in a deadly confrontation. This film had such promise from the beginning but became more dilute towards its end. Huppert is one of the best but she played her character beyond the believable which helped undo the movie near its end.
French film is always interesting but not garunteed. This is a good example of that.
