Omar Sharif dig get the French " Cesar " for this role. I may think rightly so.
He play very smoothly, and very kindly the man from the shop around the corner, being mistaken from the Parisians as the " Arab " ( in fact he is a Turk ) the Coran is his guide.
And Momo a young Jew, his neightboor, and slowly both gets friends, until Ibrahim ( Sharif ) adopte him.
That is the France of the sixties I grown in, and it is very faithfully done.
Humanistic and sad, the moral is a little naive, but full of good intentions.
Have a look at, if you can.
