Where did Miles go to learn music? Get the answer right, and you live.

That's Vincent (Tom Cruise) in Collateral.

In the same scene there's a jazz combo playing and to my ears it sounded "live", i.e. not made in a recording studio. For what it's worth, I can almost always tell the difference in any form of music. What Vincent astonishingly does, is finger the reason why.

This could be the most literately musical movie, at least for a few minutes, ever made.
