In the current "New Yorker" 1/2 of David Denby's column is on on Murnau and 1/2 of that is on his masterpiece, "Sunrise". "Sunrise" is my second favorite silent film, the first being "Greed". Both are astounding accomplishments and show the power of pure cinema.
