Curiously, my first veiwing of this Blii Murray vehicle left me under whelmed but it has grown on me over the years and is now a favorite with laugh out loud lines and situations. I can't imagine anyone other than Murray in the lead although I could imagine another female lead instead of McDowell.
The film was not actually shot in Pawatawnny but in a town in Illinois with a central square which the fim makers felt provided a more cohesive gathering place for the populace.
