He was Hollywood's most natural actor of the time, beloved of directors and underrated by the public.Many an actor and actress has voiced the tale that (when engaged in conversation with Mitchum's character) they would simply forget where they were and begin to converse. Fortunately, most directors considered such moments as a gift from the Gods and kept them.
