They called the look the "MGM Gloss" and this one has it in spades. Released in 1954, it took some critical heat for chnging the time of F. Scott Fitzgerald's post WW I story of expatriots in Paris to post WW II. The movie stars Elizabeth Taylor, Van Heflin, Walter Pigeon, Donna Reed, and a young and handsome Roger Moore. Taylor marries Reed's crush Heflin and life long troubles ensue. Taylor's colorful wardrobe detracts somewhat from the overall dark theme. There are several DVDs of this available ant not all of them are of good quality.
