"The Godfather"

What is there to say about this masterpiece, one which I and probably most of you have seen umteen times? The story, acting, violence, music, and direction are simply superb. I read recently that Stanley Kubrick considered it a great film and saw it more than 10 times. The current DVD box is the best video version yet and will be until the new hi def DVDs come along. I simply never tire of this and felt that way last night when I watched it and the documentary on its making (the studio executives hated both Brando and Pacino and it was only by skill and luck that Coppola was able to keep them in the cast).

Tonight it's Part II, one of the few times when the sequel is as good as or better than the original (alas, not true of Part III).
