VK...I'm still waiting before I dive into HDTV, is it safe?

<"And think of all those poor souls listening to their twenty SACD's now. Remember how after replacing the exhaust manifolds and mufflers with headers and straight pipes you drove with windows down, rain or snow, just to hear that rumble?">

Well you've gone and pushed a bunch of my buttons now. I have been trying for months to get more SACDs, the most I can find is 6. That's right, I have six, two of which are samplers that came with the thing, two more are so amusical I don't play them, two more I just don't care for, but one, one is very nice. Yes, I have one SACD, that I've spent nearly $10,000 to listen to (had to upgrade the whole system after buying the Sony).

I bought some headers for my '65 289HP mustang, from the J.C.Whitney catalog (of Chicago, but I bet they went out of business by now). I was able to get one side on myself, but on the other side--the driver's side, the clutch rod was right in the way. So I drove that mustang thru Kennett Square (the mushroom capitol of the world) with one open header and one open raw cast iron manifold--loosely bolted, all the way to the speed shop. When I went back the next day to pick it up, they had just banged on the header pipe until it was dented-in enough to let the clutch rod mechanism pass. I could have done that myself--but knew better. I paid them, and sold the car the next day for $300. Bought a '70 240Z, the finest car I've ever owned. sigh.

But you keep steering me off the track. I was back at Overture a few weeks ago looking at a flat screen 16:9 HDTV, I think a Pie-in-ear...how did you decide what to buy? Pure impulse? Do you have a converter box or is it built in? Does it do all those i1080 things with frills and interlaces and whatnots? Is it true that there's nothing to watch but Jay Lenno and commercials? Do you watch WHYY all the time?
