This one, based on a play by Neil Simon's daughter, tells of a make shift support group for widow Elizabeth Perkins, whose accomplished husband is killed early on while jogging. Perkins' best friend (Whoop Goldberg), her naive younger sister (Gwyneth Paltrow), and her quirky career gal step mother (Kathleen Turner in a Hilary like doo) comprise the group. They try to get the widow through the first week and it morphs into a year of confessions, arguments, reconciliations, and romances. Jon Bon Jovi plays a house painter attracted to Perkins. So so, a complete unabashed chic flick, written after Simons'own husband died suddenly.
