That's a shame. After getting excited about the tought of watching/jumping through it, my wife and I were both a little underwhelmed by the Japanese version (although the leit-motif is a little creepy, if you'll pardon the pun). One or two moments are genuinely scary, but the timing in some of the shots seemed a little off (a recent example of great timing using sound effects [none until the 'moment'] and editing must be The Sixth Sense's toilet scene). We really wanted to like this, since both of us enjoyed the original and first installment of 'Ringu'.
Some of my Chinese students who are fans of Japanese horror tell me there are 2 follow-ups to Ju-on which are purportedly a lot scarier. Will have to seek them out. Did I just say that? What is *wrong* with me?
Big J.
