The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi (2003)

Takeshi Kitano directs and stars in this new, updated version of the adventures of the "legendary" blind swordsman Zatoichi. This version is wrought with sword play at blinding speed, gushing pints of blood, and punctuated with comic relief. Sort of eastern-spaghetti action with chuckles. Found it most entertaining and was totally delighted by the ending which was a suprise River Dance-like clog number that included most every member of the cast set to a modern soundtrack.
Obviously no monocle or Dom required--but it was fun.
