I usually watch this on U.S. holidays July 4th or Thanksgiving. Written and directed ny Barry Levinson, it is a non-linear tale of a multi-generational Russian Jewish immigrant family in Baltimore and how changing times and the American culture (particularly TV) affect them over time. It is filled with many humorous and touching episodes, and covers almost the entire 20th century, jumping back and forth. The period costuming and cars are quite authentic, and the acting is wonderful. A very moving film, highly reommended.
