In this Val Lewton thriller Simone Simon plays a woman who becomes a large killer cat by night. Like the first part of "Jaws' the terror is built by NOT showing the frightening things but having the audience feel their presence. Considering how little IS shown this is a rermarkably scary movie, far more so than the inferior eighties remake. Beautifully shot in noirish high contrast black and white. The black leopard is a beautiful anaimal.
