I had avoided this ever since seeing "Saving Private Ryan" which is of course more grittally realistic but last night on a whim I dug it out and watched it. It is actually pretty good and has some stunning sequences such as the taking of the French town by French commandos and the storming of the beach cliff by Americans. Just about eeveryone in Holllywood at the time is in this. Filmed in black and white Panavision. The laserdisc is in stereo (which can of course be supoed up with PL II or Neo 6) and the DVD is in 5.0.
