This black and white Woody Allen film was made at the time he was shifting from pure comedy to the blend of drama and comedy which has characterized his work since. The story is exactly about that shift and the Woodster plays a film director at a weekend rerospective festival of his work. The film is qite cynical regarding the public's resistance to the change. Charlotte Rampling stars as a love interest. There are many Fellini-esque moments and touches of Bergman as well. Plus some funny lines. I found this to be entertaining.
