some of the most stunningly beautiful images on celluloid in service of a trite love story.Zhang YiMou was better when he was adapting classic works. His two recent films were sell-outs. First he sold out to the authorities (Hero); then he sold out to the juveniles (Dagger).
Maybe he'll return to form when he has made his pile.
