Between tragedy and humour, between being almost brulesque and serious, between an oscillating camera and a static one, a quite film, I mean as quite it can be with a subject like the occupation of a small town in Tchekoslovakia by the Nazis, and the hiding of a fleeing Jew...
Two much of an unstable filming and some inconsistency in the script, impeached it from real greatness.
Still one of the most enjoyable film of my film year.
