I don't know how many of you are awaiting this, but this is that restored version coming out on DVD on 5/3/05 according to www.digitalbits.com.I read about this on the net; as I recall, didn't film critic Richard Schiskel play a key role in this project?
I never saw the chopped up version that was shown years ago in theaters and then unceremoniously transferred to DVD, but from the hoopla, this longer version is a far better reflection of the director's vision.
I hope so; I never tire of well-made WW2 pictures.

P.S. I was too young to have participated in WW2, but my late father (born 1920) spent four years fighting in the Pacific theater as a master sergeant in the army infantry. But he rarely IF EVER talked about it . . .
