pretty lightweight, if this is any indication...This could not have been much worse unless it was 132 minutes of an explication of Archimedes Principle.
Sean Penn, Elizabeth Hurley, and Sarah Polley. Hmmmm.
The movie tells parallel stories, one in the present and the other in the 19th century, and, strange to say, the period one is quite compelling. The jerking back and forth, and the incredible vapidity of the modern-day dialogue make many scenres a laugher.
Worth seeing, however, for a couple of scenes with Ms. Polley and another blond character: perhaps the only truly sensual scene I've encountered in film in, oh...God, I can't remember since when.
