This time through I paid particular attention to the way the cinematographer captured the actual color of the L.A. sky at night. I also was struck by how believable the characters are. The DVD supplements note the extraordinary amount of physical and mental preparation both Cruise and Foxx underwent and it really shows. Each has the moves and the "look" of the man he is playing. Cruise is not a favorite of mine but for me this may be his most convincing role. Director Mann has added some new twists to the tired buddy action flick. The sound of the gunfire in DTS 5.1 will test the limits of your system. And I still love the Miles Davis sequence.
