I cannot say that Wayne did not deserve his Oscar but he should have won for "The Searchers", a far better film with a splendidly iconic Wayne performance. The Oscar in 1969 SHOULD have gone to the unnominated Yves Montand for his earth shattering performance in Costa-Gavras's masterful "Z". Quinn should have won for "Zorba" but didn't - proof that the best aren't always recognized.
