Everything you hated, I loved . . . .

I thought Kidman looked hot. Truly great performances, especially Bacall as the patrician mother. I felt it should have garnered some Oscar attention. Alas, this film rubbed too many critics the wrong way.

I'll give you the kid. Don't like him--but he did good to be so young. Plus, the soundtrack was as important to the movie as Jaws' soundtrack was.

At the end, we still have a few details that don't wash with the kid reading those letters. The beach scene, IMO, is a personal multiple choice. I choose that Kidman really still believes that the kid is her husband and she has given the rest of her life to Huston whom she will never love completely.
