Well, I finally got around to picking up a copy of The Ring Virus.
Anyone else see all 3 versions of this film (American, Japanese and Korean)? What did you think of them?Didn't care much for the Hollywood version as much... seemed to rely more on special effects than psychological eerieness. Though, I really liked the way they had the girl come out of the tv at the end (makeup and effects fit classic Japanese ghost stories... reminded me of end of the film Shikoku in a way).
The Japanese version was my favorite... just the right combination of atmosphere and leaving stuff up to your own imagination, so that your subconscious bugs you.
The Korean version was decent too and probably explained the story best, but maybe got too detailed (especially with the video tape imagery) and spoiled a bit of the "spooky" factor.
Be interesting to see a cross-breed version made by the Japanese director, the Korean writer and Hollywood money & effects.
