Since you loved "Tokyo Story"...

...I hope you'll continue to explore Ozu films - Tokyo Story is his most famous film but more Ozu treasures await.

Ozu's first masterpiece was a silent - "I Was Born But..." - that will always be on my list of greatest films of all time. Even if you don't like silents, it's a wonderful movie and very easy to watch. The humanity and subtle, restrained style of this master filmmaker is already clearly in evidence. One of the best movies about children ever made IMO. (I believe it's only on VHS bit it's WORTH it.) "The Story of Floating Weeds" is another outstanding Ozu silent, which he later remade into his first color film, also called "Floating Weeds". Lost love, deceit, family, failed ambition...all explored amid the backdrop of a down and out theater company playing a small fishing village.

Tokyo Story is part of a loosely connected "trilogy" of films centering on family life and starring Setsuko Hara as "Noriko". The other two are "Late Spring" and "Early Summer", which I also highly recommend.
