Based on two novels and produced by two major studios, this disaster flick about a series of fires in the world's tallest building stars Paul Newman and Steve McQueen, whoi contractually got equal billing and the exact same amount of dialog. Other heavy hitters include William Holden, Faye Dunaway, Robert Wagner, Robert Vaughn, and Janet Leigh. Richard Camberlin is a crooked electrical contractor whose shoddy work causes the fire. Fred Astaire and O. J. Simpson have smaller roles (good trivia question there). Naturally the wicked are punished and the virtuous saved.I have always found it intersting that three of the characters, Vaughn, McQueen, and McQeen's deputy, were in 1968's "Bullitt" where
Vaughn was a D.A. and McQeen a detective with one of his partners the same actor as his deputy in TTI. Also, Vaughn's San Francisco house in "Bullitt" is now Chamberlin's house in TTI.
