Ping, VK: The Duelists (1977)

This is truly a Napoleanic wet dream of sorts. It looked as if half the military budgets of the era were spent on uniforms! Ridley did such an excellent job on scouting locations I suspect this was his attempt at "Barry Lyndon". He came close. The problem was his casting. Keitel was okay but Carradine? And, all actors being allowed to use their native accents was questionable from my point of view. Most amazingly, it's supposed to be a "true" story. Feraud was quite a psycho for his day. I enjoyed the cinematography much more than the lofty dialogue and would consider adding it to the bookshelf. (Saw it last night.)
