I would hesitate to label this a courtroom movie, as most of the film revolves around Travolta's conflict between trying to help people he feels need help, and the finances, and survivability, of his law firm. I also think it does a good job of showing the victims, and the film avoids being hijacked by the typical courtroom scenes. To that end, this is a very unique film. Travolta is the perfect character for that type of role, as he demonstrates conflict very well. The film may also help those unfamiliar with these types of cases to gain perspective in how a law firm is operated, particularly in bigger cases. Many think that all the attorneys need to do is show up, sign their name on some pleadings, and the money starts flowing. This film shows how much they could have on the line.
