The special edition d.v.d. has some good information relative to Shaw. Apparently, Shaw was of the old Hollywood - harder edged men, who frequently drank, and were a little on the rough side. Apparently, he picked on Dreyfus because he thought of Dreyfus as the new Hollywood - liberal, and softer. He also came up with that great speech about his Navy ship going down in the drink, and the crew being eaten by sharks. I highly recommend the special edition d.v.d. for those enlightened persons who enjoyed the film.
