Re: "I'm Not Scared"

True story: I was just about to post on this film, having watched it last night. You must have e.s.p. I too enjoyed the film. The film has the trappings of a thriller, and the kidnapping certainly would seem to supply the fuel for such a film. But I liked that the film did not make the kidnapping the point of the film. A typical Hollywood endeavor would have thrown police chases, some action scenes, and maybe some random gunfire in such a story. Here, the kidnapping does not derail the flow of the film, and does not hi-jack what the film is really about: a ten year old kid's summer in the country. Certainly, we never see the actual kidnapping, the planning, and the execution of the plan. It is simply there, the point of it being to weave into the ten year old's daily life. Very original.

The cinemetography is beautiful. The colors are gorgeous.
