The 1961 film already gives very good idea of master's eye that will later develop into one of the most piercing in the history of cinema. It also gives us the early look at Franco Citti - Pasolini's lead actor, who would follow him from film to film, and later play the assassin in Godfather - you might recall the scene where he kills the cardinal with his eye glasses. If you love Italian cinema you will get immersed into this work and the settings will immediately invoke the images of Ermanoo Olmi and De Sica.
Quite recommended for early European film lovers.
