Cage does good playing Yuri, the son of Ukraninian immigrants, who gets himself out of Little Odessa by becoming an arms dealer. He gets off to a slow start but quickly learns the business as he pursues unlimited cash and his high school dream girl. When he finally gets to the "top of the heap" his relentless Interpol pursuer (Ethan Hawke) plays dirty and rats him out to his dream girl/wife. Things change. The movie is narrated by Cage and is filled with all kinds of nifty factoids about politics, arms, and human misery from the 70's forward. I giggled quite a bit but was oft sobered by the split-second flashes of the result of his murderous trade.
To describe this movie as "fun" would be inappropriate for most people, but to my twisted sense of humor I found it a delight offset by the drama and sobering reality of death. The movie ends on a political chord that lets you know this production definitely had no NRA involvement.
It's a go see.
