ART is something that exceeds the boundaries its own medium. It must grab you at the intangible level to do that. Color film SEEMS to be a difficult medium to do just that. I only notice it in Charlton Heston films. For me, I'll SETTLE for a flick that evolves for THERE is where the story lies. The more evolution (ie: plot, characters, dialog) the better. It seems as though directors think misdirection is evolution of plot; where in fact it's a cheap immitation thereof IMHO. I want the story to expand as it unfolds (eg: subplots, humanize characters with contradictory dilemas).
