Also try the Samurai Trilogy ("Samurai I, II, and III")--the Gone With The Wind of Japan, a romanticized samurai epic based on a real master swordsman.

"Yojimbo" and "Sanjuro" are classics. "Sword of Doom" is bizarre and fatalistic. "Chushingura" is the archetype revenge saga for Japanese qualities of honor, loyalty, and persistence.
