They both seem to have such a bizarre relationship with dvd and their releases. It just doesn't make much sense but it is clearly the greed factor operating. Some dvd store rental owner suggested to me that Spielberg is waiting for the dvd machine base to top 10million before he enters with some of his favorites. Given that he's finally putting out Jurassic Park/Lost World this fall, maybe they'll be some more action forthcoming. Seems ridiculous to me given the kind of money that they both have at this point. If it is some ego thing (won't release my movie "X" until I know this isn't just a passing fad...or I have to make sure that the public really knows how lucky they are) it is even worse.
