L'Avenntura: once and awhile, it's a good idea to re-visit the truly

great films. This one, by Antonioni, usually is rated in the top 10 of all time.
Though I found the second film in this trilogy a bit fatiguing (ok, boring) this one, in which precious little occurs, moves along nicely and holds interest, though it is long, even by more modern standards.
Monica Vitti should have become more well-known, in this country: what a star!
This film, as are many of Antonioni's works, is a visual treat not only for the female pulchritude but for the marvelous framing of architecture and the placement of people in relation to it.
"Reviewing" a film of this stature is pointless, kind of like reviewing "King Lear." It's a classic which, 45 years after its release, still seems fresh--- the male-female relationships are all too modern, for instance.
If you wish to know how skillfully to use a soundtrack to add to a scene and not distract, study this film's.
(An interesting bit of trivia: the girl Anna is played by the actress that later would shock the cinematic world by portraying the mother in that Louis Malle film).
