Robert Montgomery plays all three major roles in this delightful fantasy-comedy about a boxer who is killed in a plane crash and who is in a sort of Limbo presided over by Claud Rains as Mr. Jordan. It seems that one of Rains' assistants, Edward Everett Horton, mistakenly removed our hero's essence prior to his actual death and now that the body has been cremated Jordan has to find him another body from a recent decedent. This was remade with a more credible
ending by Warren Beatty in the seventies (and called "Heaven Can Wait, thus confusing many who expected a remake of the earlier film with THAT title) . All rhe characters have the same names in both the earlier and the Beatty film. One of the remarkable things about the Beatty p[roduction is that he introduces the idea of catching tuna without harming dolphin years before it was undertaken by the fishing industry.
