which critics say is wonderful without explaining how difficult that excellence is to achieve. To create a successful romantic farce, to create dramatic tension yet not collapse the soufflé takes very good writing, acting, and direction. The young Bergman, already a master, fashioned an underrated masterpiece which, like the greatest of comedies, also has some serious things to say.
His ensemble, as usual, is flawless.
An excellent movie to view with one's beloved.
