It's too bad that this film was released about the same time that "Dr. Strangelove" was because I think the latter distracted from the brilliance of "fail Safe". It is incredibly taut and lade with all the usual "is a nuclear device hust another weapon?" discussions. Henry Fonda is remarkable convincing as the president and all the other characters are well cosen and act convincingly. This is an all time classic about the unthinkable.
